Ireland & UK: Let the adventure begin

In just a few hours, Kurt and I will begin what I originally called “the British Isles” 2022 trip. To emphasize that Ireland is a big part of the trip, I think “Ireland and UK” is a better name.

It will be a 3-ish week trip around Ireland and the UK, starting with entering the UK at Dover, then heading West towards Wales and Snowdonia National Park.

We will take the ferry to Dublin, Ireland, riding around the country in a clockwise direction along the Wild Atlantic Way. We head into Nortern Ireland and taking a ferry from Belfast to Scotland.

In Scotland we will ride along the North Coast 500 route, for a great part. Then along Loch Ness, through Cairngorms National Park, and along Loch Lomond before entering England.

In England, we will ride through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the Peak District. After those stunning places, the plan is a bit loose as we at that point are bloated with impressions and being on the final leg, just wanting head home.

We have a truckload of points of interest along the route, and if you have any recommendations, we’d really like to know.

As opposed to previous rides East, where gravel has been a welcomed part of the route, I don’t expect to hit any gravel on this one. Also, we are travelling along roads, where many has boldly ridden before us.

While there are plenty of videos and ride reports already out there, we are super excited to see what meets us, and we hope you will enjoy the posts here and on Instragram before I make the YouTube videos later this year.

  1. Jesper & Kurt rigtig god tur.. glæder mig til at høre om den. triller selv onsdag til Balkan i 3 uger

  2. I think your route brings you almost past our door still (Kinloch Rannoch, Scotland).. so let me know when you are nearer/your plans, and we could look to meet up-if you only want a Fika stop that’s fine too! have ‘many’ observations on your route- but think I already told you the Welsh ones, and the Scottish ones are just tweaks 🙂 JL

    • I will send you a mail when we get closer. We have just arrived in UK and having dinner somewhere in Eastbourne
