Great ride: Bicaz Gorge, Romania
The Bicaz Gorge route (on road 12C) is a nicely paved road that takes you through a narrow gorge with steep cliffs on the side and a river next to the road.
It is a very nice route, and heavily visited, so you should expect it to be a little crowded. But, it’s Romania, and you’re on your bike, so you can always find a place to but your bike.
There a souvenir shops all over. A little more west, after the gorges, there are restaurants and lodging facilities. To the east, there are few connected villages. They have a sort of industrial feel to them, so I’m not sure they have so much to offer.
