Great ride: Transalpina, Romania

Transalpina is probably one of the most popular routes in Romania, next to Transfagarasan.
Transalpina is a couple of roads, the 7A, and the 67C. They intersect, forming a “+” (Transalpina Center), where 7A runs east/west and 67C runs north/south.
The most spectacular (and the one people talk about) is the 67C south with its high altitude (2,100 m). But the 67C north is worth a ride as well. It doesn’t have the scenery, but nice, smooth, curvy roads. And you pass a dam with a couple of souvenir booths.
The 67C east is a nice ride too, but stay off the 67C west if you don’t have to go there. It is a paved road for the most part, but in very poor condition. It is however the route you’d take if you also ride the 66A.
If you ride 67C north to either go to Sibiu, or coming from Sibiu, make sure you go via 106E, 106D, 106G (just north of the Transalpina North marker). They are small, but nice surface and takes you through small wonderfull villages.
